All of this created quite a bit of uproar in Maryville, the railroad demanded immediate action to get the trains running again and the townspeople were distraught over the sudden absence of rail service to their busy community. Even the community's namesake got on me as the destruction of her once tranquil community was disheartening.
I rest assured everyone that their voices had been heard and that work would commence immediately to not only restore, but greatly improve the rail facilites and the little community. Well, the work did commence immediately, but as you can imagine, the work has not progressed quite as rapidly as the railroad, the community and this writer had hoped. Let me just say there have been unanticipated delays.

Landscaping is currently underway and some buildings farthest back from the front of the benchwork are being placed in their final location. The roadways have been paved (painted) and detail parts such as manhole covers, stop lights, street lights, telephone poles, mail boxes, parking meters, benches and fire hydrants have been readied for installation. Some trees have even been planted.
